MULTI-COMBINATION COURSE (MC)
A Multi Combination (MC) licence is required for a heavy combination vehicle with more than one trailer.
One day course and assessment 4 hours practical driving and 1 hour test.
To upgrade your licence, you must have:
- C class license for at least three years(3) that is no longer provisional and
- Heavy Rigid (HR class) licence for the least 1 year

Course Description
This unit involves develop skills for the safe operational use of a Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicle as a part of a person’s employment. This unit of competency is designed for both new and existing drivers who wish to learn the safe operation of a Heavy Rigid Vehicle. A heavy rigid vehicle means any of the following vehicle configurations:
- A motor vehicle that has 3 or more axles and a gross vehicle mass (GVM) greater than 8 tonnes.
Entry Requirements
There are no academic requirements for this qualification, however, East West Training requires that all students:
- Be over 18 yrs. of age unless it is required by their employer as a traineeship/ apprenticeship or authorised by a parent or guardian.
- A C class licence with 12 months experience,
- Have held an LR/MR class licence for at least one year
- If you have overseas licence, contact DoT and get HR learner permit

Course Outcome
This course is designed to train drivers to a competent standard, which will enable them to pass the relevant assessment with a theoretical and practical driving test in the category of Heavy Rigid.
Course Structure
East West Training offer this this unit of competency in a total of 40 hours. All teaching, learning and assessment activities are required to be undertaken by the targeted student to demonstrate the learning outcomes of this unit of competency. The amount of training required to achieve this unit of competency has been calculated based upon:
- The starting point of the student.
- Their learning skills.
- The delivery mode for this course; and
- The breadth and complexity of the skills and knowledge to be acquired.
For this unit of competency:
- Delivery is face-to-face (adhering to government guidelines surrounding COVID19)
- The training hours comprises the formal learning activities provided to the student.
- The training hours plus the hours required for the student to complete assessments will equal the total hours required for the student to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit of competency.
Delivery Process
East West Training is located at 6/2 Davison Street, Maddington WA 6109. This is where all face-to-face training will be delivered. Students must attend our offices for the prescribed number of hours for their allocated days of the week and receive face to face training.
Training and assessment are conducted at the employer’s depot.
